England and Native American Yesterday we began a virtual reality trip to England with the Fourth Graders. We celebrated the English culture with food, crafts, singing, games and stories. The fourth graders from Mrs. Stockard's class were our tour guides. Each student was responsible to guide a group of 2-4 Kindergarten students through six centers. Each child created a Native American Headband creating a pattern learned in school. We used these headbands for our Thanksgiving celebration. We also made a book that simulated a tour of London as we visited historical monumental places.l Each child listened to the stories of Hiawatha and The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush. We began a traveling suitcase which will house a reflective piece of writing for each student about the culture of study. Today we drew pictures and wrote about what we have learned about England and the Native Americans. We liked the cookies, making the flag and playing soccer. We played soccer outside with Mr. Tomlinson. He is one of the coaches that works with our state Rhode Island Rays atheletes. The Food and Cultural Artifact Center We enjoyed English biscuits and juice while looking at many pictures, maps, traditional clothing and dolls and other amazing Indian and English artifacts. We looked at the flag of England and colored a red, white, blue flag to take home. Our first International Celebration was a huge success. We look forward to our Holiday Celebrations around the World next month.
